The Hills Drama School students have the opportunity to work on group performances to enter fun & friendly competitions throughout the year. If you are interested in entering, let us know and we will make sure to include you in the next competition.

McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod develops and encourages artistic and creative skills in the community. Subject to individual event guidelines, it offers classical and contemporary events for budding artists of all ages and types. First held in 1933 and originally known as the City of Sydney Eisteddfod, it now attracts some 30,000 entries every year and is widely regarded as the largest and most successful competitive performing arts festival in the world.

McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod is held at various venues across the city from June through to September each year. Entries in by March.

Sharp Short Theatre is a short play competition for writers, directors and performers who are 18 years and under.

Plays are entered into a heat with the best from each heat moving forward into the Festival’s Gala Final. All plays must be ten minutes or less in duration and written, performed and directed by people who are 18 years of age or younger. Producers should be over 18, for example a teacher, parent or responsible adult.

The biggest festival of ten minute theatre in the world, each year featuring over 150 of the best ten minute plays from local and international writers.

Submission dates and performances are announced throughout the year.
